Here’s a message from the host of the Families Belong Together! event you signed up to attend:

Yes, we are still having our Families Belong Together rally on the 30th!

While it is good news the administration has announced they will end this family separation policy, the reason for ending it is because we raised our voices across the country and said, “No!” But this isn’t over, and the new executive order isn’t a solution.

Detaining entire families is not a solution, it is a jail sentence. It won’t fix the humanitarian crisis that Trump created. It will put families and children in jail indefinitely. And it does nothing to help the children who have already been separated from their families.

Children belong with their families and in their communities, not in cages or behind bars in even worse conditions.

The families that come to our country fleeing violence and poverty need protection and opportunity, not detention.

This administration needs to stop traumatizing our children and their parents.

We will rally on Saturday, June 30, in Sacramento and join others nationwide to say that our demand is clear and not negotiable:

Trump’s policies of separating and detaining families must be stopped immediately and families must be reunified.

We have moved our location to the ICE offices on Capitol Mall because as of June 30th the RCCC contract with ICE will be over and it will not be renewed.

Please see our Facebook page for more updates and information on sign making parties, carpooling, and how to help: https://www.facebook.com/events/225396311521314/

Thank you for taking a stand.

We will come together to say,
We demand that the Trump Administration stop separating immigrant children from their families IMMEDIATELY — and account for what is happening to all children in immigration custody.
