On Wednesday, February 21—the next California Water Commission (CWC) meeting—join SYRCL, Foothills Water Network, and the Sierra Club in Sacramento at our very own Bear River Recreation Rally.
Our local water district is pursuing tax payer money to pay for Centennial Dam. Help us send a message to the CWC that the Bear River is treasured by the community as it exists today. We do not need to waste millions of California tax dollars to create poor-quality habitat and expensive recreation facilities.
The Bear River and Campground already provide accessible and affordable river recreation for people to hike, kayak, fish, and swim. The public benefits NID claims it would create would be at the expense of oak woodlands, natural wetland habitat, an important trout fishery and the last publicly accessible 6 miles of river on the Bear.
RSVP: By clicking the url at the top right hand side of this page.
WHERE: We will take a shuttle from the SYRCL office, 313 Railroad Ave, Nevada City. The bus will also stop in Auburn at the Bell Rd Park & Ride, 14310 Bowman Rd. Our final destination will be at the California Natural Resources Building, 1416 9th St, Sacramento.
WHEN: Wednesday, February 21.
If riding the bus from Nevada City, please meet at 7:15AM.
If riding the bus from Auburn, please meet at 8:15AM.
If carpooling to Sacramento on your own, please meet us at 9:15AM at CA Natural Resources building, 1416 9th St, Sacramento.
We will depart from Sacramento between 11:30AM-12PM and return to Nevada City between 1-2PM.

WEAR: Your favorite river recreation gear to make a visual splash and show your love for the Bear. Ideas include: paddles, fishing poles, life vests, beach towels, binoculars, cameras, small coolers, hiking boots and umbrellas

. We also want to show up with our signs! We are hosting a Bear River Rally sign-making party Tuesday February 13, at the SYRCL office, from 5-7PM. Not sure what to say? Check out these sign ideas for inspiration

BRING: We will have a few light snacks, but please make sure to bring a lunch. We leave early in the morning and return in the early afternoon. We will not have time to stop for lunch.

EXPECT: Parking to be sparse. We recommend reserving a space on the bus or carpooling. If you carpool, you may want to park at the Watt/I-80 Station and catch the Blue Line to 8th St and 0 St.
