1. THE FOCUS FOR TALENT SHOW ENTRIES: The focus for this year’s entries should be an expression of your views on how you/we can contribute to the betterment of our planet and/or our community. For example: large global issues such as climate crisis, safety in schools, gender equality or local issues or concerns in which you/we can make a difference would be appropriate.
2. HOW TO APPLY: Select one of the three categories below and write a brief description of your presentation and explain how your presentation fits into the over- all focus for this year’s entries. (Attach an additional page if you need more space.) Scan and email both pages, with all required signatures, to bethechangeplacer@gmail.com. You can also snail mail or drop it off for Natalie Pohley Zapata at 808 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603, or text Natalie at 530 368-4455 to make other arrangements for getting your application in on time. Deadline to submit your application is January 31. Early submissions are welcome and late submissions will not be accepted.
3. THE THREE CATEGORIES FOR THIS YEAR’S PRESENTATIONS ARE:
A: Spoken Word, Music, Songs & Poetry – Include in your description what sound equipment you need, i.e. Number of microphones, a stool to sit on or other equipment or material and if you’re playing an instrument. Time your presentation and keep it within 5 to 7 minutes or less. You’re responsible for bringing your own musical instrument.
B: Dance, Dramatic Presentations – Include in your description what sound equipment you will need, etc. (See item A above). You’re also responsible for bringing any props you might need to use on stage. Time your presentation and keep it within 5 to 7 minutes or less.
C: Visual and Fine Arts- You’re are responsible for bringing your visual and/or fine arts to the Gomez Arts and Events Center at a prearranged time a few days before the event in order for us to arrange for your work to be displayed. We will contact you by email, phone or text to give you a date and time we need your artwork to be at the Gomez Center. Include in your description whether your artwork needs to be hung or set on a display table. Please print up a description tag for your work to be placed next to it with your name, age, name of piece and medium. *If you’re presenting something of an audio/visual nature let us know if you need a computer and/or projector to display onto a screen. You will be expected to arrive earlier that day to make sure your audio/visual equipment is tested and working. Time to be determined. Time your video presentation and keep it within 5 to 7 minutes or less.
